5 on the 5th

Thank goodness for Laura over at Mommy, Run Fast and her virtual run series.  Five miles (or km) by the 5th of the month, from January- June.  Knowing I had to run 5 miles yesterday, or not be entered for prizes, helped shake me out of my funk.

Even better?  On Monday night, as I was perusing the interwebs, I realized a new to me running plan would be a real funk shaker too.  A few of the Train Like a Mother workouts are linked for fah-ree on their website.  I downloaded the Half Marathon Finish It plan, starting at Week 5, dropped week 13, flipped weeks 9 and 10, wrote the workouts in my planner and tada, I am focused for the Flying Pirate Half in North Carolina on 4/14.

The birds were singing and the sun was shining for my 5 mile run yesterday.  I went in the morning, before the rains hit.  My jacket had to come off after mile one, it was just too warm.  Spring is just around the corner, I tell ya.  5 miles at 51:38.

The funk was completely gone, by the time I booked a few flights, purchased a few race entries and discussed logistics yesterday afternoon.

What?  You don't mail your entries to save online fees?
I'm not sure why my race entry fee for the Montana Half Marathon needs to be mailed to Santa Monica, but whatevs.

S' Alaska Airlines bonus miles came in handy for my flights in and out of Billings (thank you, honey). LJ talked me in to flying through Seattle so we could get there earlier and check out the sights. There are sights in Billings?  If you know of them, please tell me where we should go in a comment.

I had dinner waiting for A when she arrived home from basketball practice.  She was in a foul mood (haha, basketball pun) and let me know what she needed.  Her day was so bad, like getting 3 shots at the doctor's bad, she needed a treat.  The only treat to compensate for a day like that, is a chocolate box, filled with white chocolate and dark chocolate mousse, topped with whip cream and raspberry sauce.

Chocolate Box.  Boom!
....and I sent the new driver out to pick it up.

I hope A (and ya'll) have a better day today.

Yeah that chocolate box could cure any bad day!!!! I have been using the Finish it plan from Train Like a Mother. I really like it and I like the flexibility!

How come nobody has ever gotten ME a chocolate box when I've had a bad day? I feel deprived...

Shoot, I forgot to log my miles for Laura's challenge. I have really sucked at life this week. Monday punched me in the face. I think I needed that dessert that A got. Tuesday wasn't much better, I am losing faith for the rest of the week.

Billings- there is NOTHING to do there. We drove through and I ended up having a tantrum because we couldn't find a sbux. My husband may have called me a spoiled brat and said that I was being demanding. Say what?! I just wanted some coffee...it was 7 am at the time. Sheesh. Men. :-)

I almost always mail the entry form to skip the fees...I run about 70 races in a year so those 2-5 bucks can add up FAST!

I think I only have ever mailed one race entry, and I think it was for Wyoming last year because I couldn't get the discount for Marathon Maniacs to apply? Or Something?

I want a chocolate box!

I do online for my race entries, but the extra fees irritate me, and if I raced more, I'd probably start mailing my entries in.

Glad you are snapping out of your running funk!

I have never mailed a race registration, BUT I was (strangely) just looking at another race yesterday run by I Am Athlete, and for a second, I was really excited. Until you umentioned it was for Montana. Womp, womp.

I have the TLAM book with plans, if you want to borrow??

Hope the chocolate helped A's mood.

Oh my heavens - I've never seen a chocolate box sundae before - where do you get one of those? And why does no one bring me one when I've had a bad day???
