9 Mostly With Friends

Saturday morning, I drove across town to tag along meet up for 9 miles.  Kari and Diana are training for a full marathon and had 14 miles planned (including maps for us to tuck in our pockets, but I didn't take one).  They were nice enough to find an almost 8 mile loop for us to tackle.

Even my non running buddy knew that the route would be hilly.  And it was.  The route was partially on roads that didn't have sidewalks.  The good looking, young, rich men that ran towards us on the narrow roads were very friendly.  The miles flew by and we were in downtown Lake O.

Gorgeous Lake Oswego
The non bloggy ladies I ran with were patient while I got a picture of the lake.  After a few more miles (and one gigantic hill), we stopped on a bridge...

Gorgeous girls.
...and before I knew it the loop was completed.  K and D decided to head a flatter different direction for their last set of miles.  I followed them out for a mile, said my goodbyes and ran back by myself. I am a better follower, and only had to check my GPS once to get back to my car solo. 9.72 enjoyable miles/1:45:27.

I tried to hit up a drive thru Starbucks, but the line was too long.  I drove home and grabbed a vanilla latte and chonga bagel with cream cheese at my local Starbucks.  At the grocery store, I purchased an egg salad sandwich and Coco Exposed water with aloe in it.  I thought I was being all nutritious and adventurous.  So proud that I didn't buy a Diet Pepsi.  Have you ever had a drink with aloe vera in it?  Did you know you could drink aloe vera?  Aloe doesn't liquify, no matter how much I shook it. I was grossed out disappointed with the aloe chunks in the water.  Oh well, live and learn.

S arrived home safely on Saturday night.  Our super romantic Valentine's movie date (Die Hard) was lots of fun.  Nothing like having your husband gone for a few days to realize how useful and appreciated he is at home.

Plan for the Week

Monday:  Yoga
Tuesday: 7 miles
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 5 miles
Friday 4 miles
Saturday: 8 miles/10 minute strong finish
Sunday: Rest or swim

i forget the reasoning, but you aren't supposed to ingest aloe straight from the plant, but your drink was fine.

you want a nice surprise, zico chocolate coconut water... tastes like liquid smores AND its got a lot of electrolytes to help after a run :)

Aloe in a drink? Odd, but ok. I think I'll take your recommedation and skip it. :) Nice Run!

That's one of my favorite areas to run! And I totally know what hill you're talking about. ugh...

I accidentally bought a drink with CACTUS in it, and I'm assuming it's similar to the aloe. Creepy.

I second the zico chocolate coconut water. That is delicious, and not chunky.

I don't think I would want to drink aloe either. Thanks for the warning! That area looks great for running.

Great running pictures! I always try to avoid hills, which is not good.

I am glad that S made it home so that you could celebrate Valentine's Day.

Looks like you have a good week of training ahead of you. :-)
